Company Setup - Due Date Exclusion

Due Date Exclusion Setup Screen

Use days you are closed. The system will check this file to make sure the client's due date is not going to fall on a day you are closed. If it does, the system will advance the due date to the next business day.

The due date exclusion feature is optional, and using it can complicate the system. The idea is that the due date should not fall on a day the store is closed, such as a holiday or a Sunday. However, interest is typically charged on dates the store is closed, so this can have an odd effect if the next payment date falls on a date the store is closed. For example, take a 30 day loan on which the interest charged works out to one dollar per day. Six out of seven times, such a loan would result in $30 of interest. However, if the loan is taken out on a day that results the next payment date being on a Sunday, if the due date exclusion feature is used, the interest will be $31 if daily interest is being computed.

But what if your store employees quoted the loan at the $30 figure? We recommend that you consider the circumstances carefully and if you prefer not to have the computer "push" the next payment due date forward to avoid store closed dates, simply go to Tools, then to Due Date Exclusion, and delete all records from the Due Date Exclusion table. You can do this by clicking on the gray box to the left of the date field, then pressing the delete key. After you have deleted all due date exclusion records, close the window, then re-open it and make sure that all records are gone.
